Despite bloodshed, Obama touts Afghan war progress

President Obama says that we will begin to bring troops home from Afghanistan in July of 2011 and that we will be totally out by 2014. On the other hand Robert Gates says that it is too early to tell and Hilary Clinton thinks that Obama needs to be a little more realistic.
It sounds like President Obama is just saying this to make people happy like the left wing of his Democratic Party. No one really seems to believe him. I feel like the government needs to be honest with us. They should not be telling us something that they don’t even believe to make people happy. I think they should make a plan and a goal for the war that is realistic and then work towards that goal.
This has a lot to do with government because the government decides whether or not a nation is involved in war. Also war is usually about who is in control of the government and political issues.

  1. I don't think that the troops are going to come home any time soon. Yeah we sould be told the truth but, at the same time we need to be given hope

  2. Yes i do want to see our troops come home and be with there family and it hurts me to see that they can't. They are out there fighting for us and we can do one little thing for them and its to let them come home.

  3. I believe that Obama is being optimistic. He would like to think that all our troops will be home by 2014 and that the war will be over, but yes we have to be realistic. Its a wonderful goal to set our minds toward, but we have to think realistically and not get our hopes too far up.
