Republicans are gaining about six senate seats because of the 2010 census. The biggest gain was Texas, gaining four seats for Republicans. For the first time California did not gain any seats. Also the census showed that the population is increasing slower than in the past. Some of the reason for the slow population increase is because of the economic down turn causing births and immigration to slow.
This involves government because the census shows how many seats each state gets in the Senate. Whether the state is more Republican or Democrat will determine what decision they will most likely make.
Having a regular census is very beneficial to our country. By having a census each state gets a fair amount of seats in the Senate. This also showed me how much the economy has an impact on each of us, influencing the things that you buy and even impacting decisions on whether you have a baby or not.

I agree, that a regular census is beneficial to us and our country. I do believe that the way the economy has been that people might not be having as many kids as they would like. Which i think is a smart decission. Why bring a baby in to this world and you cant afford it. Also by doing a census like you said see how many seats each state may need. You can also see things on a local level like do more schools need to be built or the numbers staying the same
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's good for the US to have a regular census because it lets each state get represented accuratly. The economy really does have an impact on everything that goes on in our country. Since the economy has recently sucked people can't afford to have childern.
