What is the government doing with our tax money? 22.3 million dollars from the stimulus payments just went to dead people or people who were in prison. 18 million dollars went to people who were dead and 4.3 million dollars went to people who were in prison. A little over half of the money given to dead people or people in prison were returned. The stimulus payments went to people to try to increase
consumer spending. In all 52 million people received a stimulus payment of 250 dollars.
This is a lot of money we are talking about, about 13 billion dollars to be exact. The government should be more careful when they are giving out money. They should have spent more time going over reports and checking. It makes me nerves to trust them with my money.

Yeah, I agree. There's only so much money out there and everyone including the government needs to be careful with what they do with it. Our economy is getting better but it still sucks. For the government to be getting rid of money like that makes me think hey free moneyyy, give some to me.
ReplyDeleteI say, if my money is being given to dead people or people behind bars, then kill me or lock me up so I can get some of it back. Taxes, in my opinion, should be focused on social security. Not the already deceased or people who are in jail for wrong-doing. Don't give my money to a trouble maker, honestly.
ReplyDeleteI feel that the government should do more to ensure the money they give out is going to someone who can actually use it. So I agree with Katie, but how can we ensure that something like this doesnt happen in the future? That is my only question for this problem.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, what is up with our government? Can they not do anything right? The government should be giving money to people that actually need it. My parent's dont pay taxes so that felons and dead people can roll around in money. The government obviously isn't doing it's research. If they aren't doing their research on where stimulus money is going what else are they not researching throughly?
